Quicktime 7 Pro - Trim - pre-edit - Copy - paste

As I mentioned previously QT7 pro is great for doing quick rough cuts with your video clips. It allows you to quickly trim, cut, copy and paste clips together. You can use short cut keys like "command" + "i" for in points on the time line and "command+o" for Out points on the timeline.

here is a short example of how to trim edit and stitch together a string of clips into a rough cut:

How to edit in QT7 Pro. Get the 20$ upgrade for the pro version it lets you put in and out markers on the timeline of the clip and then you can cut copy and paste, giving you the elementary elements of editing and trimming

Naming your files

Once you have trimmed all the clips you must rename them so as to help with categorization. Its good to include WS (wide Shot), MS (Medium Shot), CU (Close Up), XCU(extreme Close Up)
so for example lets say you have 4 shots of a scene of Lynda sitting in a cafe. you would name the files something like this:
Linda_cafe_WS1.mov
Linda_cafe_MS1.mov
Linda_cafe_MS2.mov
Linda_cafe_CU1.mov

- this will help in the editing process. If this is confusing to you rule of thumb is name files from the same scene with a similar name so as to be able to recognize them

Phew we are almost done...!!! I have tried to keep only the essentials here so that you can focus on working on your stories.
